Satya Nadella, CEO di Microsoft, ha nei mesi scorsi confermato che l'azienda non abbandonerà affatto il mercato hardware ma che i suoi futuri smartphone dovranno essere qualcosa di davvero innovativo e rompere decisamente con il passato: Microsoft realizzerà nuovi smartphone: saranno ibridi e innovativi. Si è parlato di un dispositivo Microsoft dotato di uno schermo pieghevole con supporto per Windows Ink, capace di fungere sia da tablet che da smartphone. Intorno a tale prodotto, che potrebbe chiamarsi Surface Phone, aleggia proprio Andromeda. L'obiettivo però è quello di proporre Andromeda OS, quindi una versione di Windows 10 davvero modulare, anche e soprattutto ai produttori partner di Microsoft. La nuova shell di Windows si adatterà automaticamente a qualunque genere di device: PC, notebook, convertibili, smartphone, dispositivi ripiegabili su loro stessi e addirittura oggetti smart indossabili.
